McLaren Vale, South Australia A very dry and warm growing season meant early flowering. Large rainfall events in the first half of January provided welcome relief for many vineyards, especially our dry-grown. Vineyards that were looking dry bounced back with healthier looking canopies. The rain, in conjunction with mild January temperatures, slowed down the rate of ripening. As a result, vintage started just slightly earlier than normal.
This is the kind of wine for people who love the blockbuster styles, but want it tempered back. After 14 months maturation in new and used American and French Oak, we are rewarded with a bright lifted floral nose with plum and underlying clove spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with dark berries, mocha and a dark chocolate textural finish.
