Mitchell of Clare Valley Shiraz 2016
A deep bright inky crimson red, the nose shows fragrant, ripe berry flavours lifted by dusty exotic spicy notes. There is generous complex fruit flavour on the front palate, leading seamlessly through to a very dry firm tannin finish.
Fruit for this wine is grown in our mature, dry grown vineyard that yields just one tonne per acre. No artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides were used.
Our old dry-grown vines grew a wonderfully balanced crop with great flavour development, and potential for long lived wines.
Our Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz has a component of whole bunch fermentation which gives a wonderful lifted perfume to the wine and helps with the tannin structure. The Shiraz is estate bottled after 18 months in French oak barrels.
